A few weeks ago I posted about the Korg Monotron. Although the
Monotron is a useful little music synth, the XSEED DS-10 is far more
powerful for making music and such. The DS-10 emulates Korg’s old
MS-10 of the 70s-80s era. Very unique sounds can be achieved with
this little unit. The synthesizer is completely contained on a little
mini cartridge that plugs into Nintendo’s DS game machine. Have a
listen.
“Skywatchers, grab your blankets. December’s night sky spectacular
will feature the best meteor shower of 2010”... Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’ve
heard that one before. Well, i guess we shall see. At least those who
are serious about watching meteor showers anyway. Seriously however,
if you check out at least one meteor shower a year, this should be the
one. It usually is the best of them all.
There will also be a total lunar eclipse on the 20th of December visible
in North America this year too so be ready for it. It’s just 10 days away.
You can rent this bubble tent for $600.00 a night in France. I’m not
sure I’d shell out that kind of money for one night but the idea is
intriguing. There is another tent style that has some privacy which
is the one I’d opt for but all in all, this bubble tent would be really cool
to camp in for a weekend I think. It would be a slightly new way to
sleep under the stars.
If you are an iphone user you will probably really like this page. Apps
and Hats is a biweekly vlog showcasing 5 or 6 apps for your phone.
The gal that reviews the apps does a nice job in my opinion and
is very easy on the eyes too so, double bonus. She also fashions a
different hat for each video so she has the gimmick department
satisfied.
There are several videos on the page so you can go back and see
what has been reviewed for several months back. If you have an
iphone take a look. If you don’t have an iphone, this page may
convince you to get one after all, what’s a cell phone without some
cool apps?
If you liked the Whitney Music Box you may enjoy the Wheel of Stars.
It is loosly based on the WMB concept in that the stars slowly rotate
about the center of the starfield and as the stars cross the line they
produce a musical note. Very eerie strange sound. Check it out.
I am taken back more than just a step by this. I am absolutely
amazed by the incredible talent of this dude and his amazing
works of art. I’ve seen some small sculptures before and blogged
them here but this has to be it. Man can not create sculptures
smaller than this. My favorite is Charlie Chaplain dancing on the
tip of an eye lash. See for your self.
Thanks Ken, just remarkable.
One of the coolest videos I’ve seen in a while. I am amazed at just
how big the International Space Station is now. Soon the United
States space shuttles will no longer dock with this enormous
station because they are going to be retired leaving the task of
shuttling personnel up there to the Russians. Enjoy the tour of
the ISS. Let me know what you think.
Need to generate a digital ransom note? Here you go!
Just type in what you want your note to say and voilà,
your ransom note magically appears on the screen for
copy and paste or even hard copy. You can be an instant
kidnapper or criminal mastermind. Imagine the Possibilities.
Ever heard of an ElliptiGo? I hadn’t until yesterday. It looks like a
workout and a half but pretty ingenious. It is simply an elliptical
workout machine taken to it’s next logical step, no pun intended.
With eight speeds this puppy moves out nicely. Watch a few of
their videos and let me know what you think.
I will be enjoying three days of LDRS and one day of RoCStock
this year out at Lucern Valley Dry Lake. Temps will be on the
warm side but it’s all about the rockets! If you can make it, do
try to attend for a day or two and camp out with me. You will
be amazed if you have never seen a high power rocketry event
before.
LDRS begins Thursday 6-10 and runs through Tuesday 6-15.
RoCStock runs concurrently on Friday 6-11 through Sunday
6-13. Both events are huge and together it’ll be rocket heaven.
I should be there Thursday through Saturday. Leave a comment
if you think you may attend and I’ll give you info on how to find
me.
By the way, LDRS stands for Large Dangerous Rocket Ships.
Have you ever wondered what it might be like to explore
the moon? Well here is your chance to become a virtual
astronaut more or less, thanks to the very cool and
interactive website Moon Zoo.
