one paragraph

“You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out
of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person
must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody
anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When
half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other
half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does
no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that
my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply
wealth by dividing it.”

Adrian Rogers, 1931 – 2005

Go figure..

prison toys

Prison is full of people that have a lot of time on their hands.
Idle minds and hands are the devil’s playground. Take a tour
of some things confiscated from prison inmates in Germany.
For example, pictured above:

This gun was found along with
other homemade firearms in the
cell of two Celle prison inmates
on November 15, 1984.
The weapons had been made in
the prison’s metal workshop.
They were loaded with pieces of
steel and match-heads.

mailer’s moonfire

Norman Mailer is about to realease an amazing new coffee table book
just chauk full of Apollo 11 photographs, some never before seen by
the general public, oh boy. What is amazing is the astronoimical price
tag he is setting on it, How about $1000.00.
Doesent Norman know there is a recession going on? Well, if you hurry
and pre order from you can get the recession special price
of only $800.000 but you have to hurry before all of the Nasa astronauts
buy em up first. You see there will be less than 2000 printed.

Here is a link to a slideshow with 18 photos from the $1K coffeetable book.
That’s a little over $50.00 worth of photos for freeeeee! Larry Miller
would be proud.

LRO Sees Apollo Landing Sites

Well, well, well… I’ve been waiting for something like this for
several decades. I sure hope NASA put a better camera on
board the LRO than what they are currently using to bring these
5 Apollo landing site images to us on their webpage. According to
a comment left by someone at NASA, it is going to only get better.
Here is the quote, “NASA Moderator: Buggies should be visible in
some later images. This is just a taste of what’s to come.”

I hope their right. I really want to believe we went to the moon.

NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter has transmitted its first
images since reaching the moon on June 23. The spacecraft’s
two cameras, collectively known as the Lunar Reconnaissance
Orbiter Camera, or LROC, were activated June 30. The cameras
are working well and have returned images of a region in the
lunar highlands south of Mare Nubium (Sea of Clouds).

As the moon rotates beneath LRO, LROC gradually will build up
photographic maps of the lunar surface.

I’m looking forward to seeing pictures of all six Apollo
moon landing sites and all the moon buggy tracks and
things left behind by man from nearly 40 years ago,
aren’t you?

field day from mt. pacifico

The last full weekend in June is the annual ARRL Field
Day for amateur radio operators across the country.

This year our Field Day efforts were directed to a great
little campground at the top of Mt Pacifico located in
the Angeles National Forest. At just over 7100 feet ASL
with outstanding shots to the north and east, we definetly
had loud signals across the country. We used two dipoles
on the HF bands along with a delta loop hung from two
100 foot trees, a 6 meter ho loop, and a 6 meter vertical.
6 meters was open for several hours on Saturday morning
and evening and Sunday morning. We made some east
coast contacts and a ton of mid west single hop contacts
as well as dozens and dozens to the north and north east
including New York. We had alot fun until BFH dropped
a steaming coiler right next to the fire ring, DAMN! what
was he thinking? I guess when you’re that shit faced there
isn’t a whole hell of a lot going through your neocortex.

Dave and Rob took a lot of pictures and video of our four
day weekend. Hope you enjoy some pictures provided
by them. (set 1) (set 2)
