Oddest book title prize

Filed under: Humor, Weird — IyoKobat @ 10:58 am

Forget the Booker, the Nobel or the Pulitzer: real book lovers
and the literati agree that the Diagram Prize for the oddest
of odd titles transcends them all.

destructingmessage.com

Filed under: Technology, Web sites — kf6hqc @ 4:42 pm

DestructingMessage.com is a free service which enables you
to send a self-destructing message to someone. This means
once they read the message they will no longer be able to read
it again after the timer has reached zero. This ensures your
message is read by no one but the reader and all evidence of
the message is erased.
Your mission Mr. Phelps, if you decide to accept it, is to use
destructingmessage.com any way you see fit. As always, if your
computer or any of your computers peripherials get killed, don’t
come crying to us here at admit-one.net!

scissors? of course!

Of course they’re scissors.

Quote from the mom:

This is my kindergartener’s artistic rendering of a pair of scissors.
I wonder what this teacher thought. I allowed myself just a small
smirk when I saw it. I waited until he was out of the room until I
started crying so hard from laughing.
Well of course they’re scissors!
If you know of someone with a small child or if you are a teacher,
you will love this!

As you all know, I will be required to proudly display this on my
refrigerator for a length of time…

Thanks Gloria

SciFi’s 10 best planets

Filed under: History, pretty cool — kf6hqc @ 4:51 am

For us SciFi fans, this is a nice list of the ten best
planets depicted in books or film. The comments
are a nice read also as naturally there are other
worlds that didn’t make the list but are brought
to our attention by readers arguing that they
probably should have. Perhaps the next list should
be the 20 best SciFi planets. Do you know of a
planet that you think should have made the list?

shot in the head and survived!

Miami Herald
May 1, 2008

Linda Burnett , 23, a resident of San Diego,
was visiting her in-laws and while there went
to a nearby supermarket to pick up some
groceries. Several people noticed her sitting
in her car with the windows rolled up and with
her eyes closed, with both hands behind the
back of her head.

One customer who had been at the store for a
while became concerned and walked over to
the car. He noticed that Linda’s eyes were now
open, and she looked very strange. He asked
her if she was okay, and Linda replied that
she had been shot in the back of the head,
and had been holding her brains in for over
an hour. The man called the paramedics,
who broke into the car because the doors
were locked and Linda refused to remove
her hands from her head.

When they finally got in, they found that Linda
had a wad of bread dough on the back of
her head. A Pillsbury biscuit canister had
exploded from the heat, making a loud noise
that sounded like a gunshot, and the wad
of dough hit her in the back of her head.

When she reached back to find out what it
was, she felt the dough and thought it was
her brains. She initially passed out, but quickly
recovered.

Linda is a blonde and a Democrat, and an
Obama supporter, but that could be irrelevant.
