Vandenburg launch

Last evening, Vandenburg AFB launched a Delta IV (medium
configuration ) rocket with it’s secret spy satellite payload into
a geo-sync orbit. These pictures were taken about 100 or so
miles east of Vandenburg. We here at admit-one were able to
watch it’s ascent for a good 5 minutes or so. Apparently
everything went smoothly.

Blows RocStock away…..I have seen these a couple of times in my life. I have a friend that lives in Goleta. He says that when these things go off, he can hear them crackling and rumbling as they head out of sight.

I could be wrong, but it was my understanding that most of the Vandenburg launches are for satellites that are bound for low-Earth or polar orbits. Geo-synchronous sats are launched closer to the equator (to save on fuel).
