God spilled some desert paint

Beautiful desert flowers on the east side of the Carrizo
plain, in the Temblor Range, (about 50 miles due west
of Bakersfield California). This is desert country. It is
very dry all year round except this year. This year
there was an abundance of rain. It happens only about
every 100 years or so… This is the result!

truly amazing

Can we ever look at a pencil
the same way again…?
Unfortunately, there aren’t
many images to view,
(unless you know a few tricks),
but the ones that are available
are truly wonderous.

Segway across America

10 MPH across America

Across the country on a Segway. Sounds pretty
weird to me… I am guessing that between re-charges
and sleep and steep grades and all of the hazards
this should take at least 2 months. Turns out it only
took a month.

Bush in Rancho Cucamonga today

Hail to the chief

President Bush will be in my fair city
today to address seniors on senior
prescription drug plans and drum up
support for the war in Iraq. I wish I
could be there. It looks as if admit-one
will be represented there today by my
wife and kids.

Live Weather Radar and Katrina

live weather web site

Well, sort of live weather radar. It gets updated about once an hour.
Currently livewxradar.com is tracking Katrina, the catagory 5 hurricane
that is about to slam into Louisiana. I hope for the best down there
but it doesn’t look good. A storm like this doesn’t occur but once
every 25-50 years.

280 square feet of vacation house

More interesting dwelling places found on the web.
It would be great to plop one of these MD-280’s down
on a little piece of property somewhere away from
the hustle and bustle. I’d like mine next to a lake
in the mountains somewhere. It’s nice to dream.

fun with chemicles

Chemiluminescence is the emission of light
through a chemical reaction. A significant
property of this form of emission is that it
produces no heat. This lab will investigate
the causes of chemiluminescence and will
touch upon some of its specific characteristics.

coercion

messin' with the Senator

I love the expression on this paratrooper’s face. He is getting a kick
out of messing with the senator. I am sure this private has seen
duty in either Iraq or Afghanistan, or both, and has no problem
spotting the enemy.

Hillary Clinton (D-NY) has already started her 2008 presidential
campaign by aligning herself with the military and pretending to
be tough on terror. Many have never forgotten that she was
quoted as saying: ” I loathe the military.”

The picture shows that this soldier has been thru Survival School
and learned his lessons well. He’s giving the sign of “coercion”
with his left hand. These hand signs are taught in survival school
to be used by POW’s as a method of posing messages back to our
intelligence services who may view the photo or video. This guy
was obviously being coerced into shaking hands with Hillary Clinton.
It’s ironic how little she knew that he would so inform us about the
photo—-perhaps because she’s never understood our military to
begin with.

The text in the picture at the top says. “Keep your friends close,
and your enemies closer”
